ON THE ROAD with Charlie

I feel really bad about leaving Charlie standing out on this dirt road for so long. Hopefully he made some friends in the small town of Purdon, Texas where this shot was taken. With a population of only around 133 I'm guessing he knows everyone by name now.

Sorry about this Charlie. We're back on the road again.

SAN MARCOS in 1984

Do you know where you were in November 1984? I'm sorry to say I barely remember where I was three days ago. Fortunately Charlie's beloved wrote on the back of this shot that he was standing at San Marcos. Doing a little research I believe Charlie was about to go on a glass bottom boat ride along the San Marcos River. Sadly, there are no photos of Charlie sitting on the boat...or standing on the boat.

SMILING in the snow

But baby, it's cold outside.

The wife said, "Stay! Smile!"

Can anyone name the nearly buried car model?

Charlie STANDING IN THE SNOW

I'd say that title is pretty accurate. Okay, if you want more specifics we'll call it "Charlie Standing in the Snow in Texas in 1982." Satisfied?

AUGUST 1987

This was taken at 309 Woodlawn Ave. Where is Woodlawn? Most likely, considering this is Charlie, it's Texas. Just another spot where Charlie once stood and had his photo taken.

Charlie docked on LAKE O' PINES

More of Charlie and water. He's got the dock, the gas pump, and the lake. All he needs is a boat to go out onto Lake O' Pines in Marion County, Texas in 1982.

I don't think Charlie would do well in a dingy or rowboat. He looks more like a fella who should be wearing a captain's cap and sitting on the deck of a cabin cruiser.

Back at PEG and JOHN'S HOUSE in Dallas in 1985

Charlie has been here before and will be here many more times: here, here, and here. From all indications it was a McMansion and nothing like the humble abode Charlie lived in.

STANDING ON THE DOCK of the bay

On the back it says "Brownwood 1984 Reunion" which leaves it open to just all sorts of events.

I'm guessing this was taken along the Pecan Bayou. I'm not kidding. There's a body of water called the Pecan Bayou. Ever tried to hull a pecan? If you have you know what I'm talkin' about. If you haven't, well woooooeeeeeeeee have you got a whole lot of fun comin' your way. I think Charlie probably had enough sense to buy his pecans already hulled.

309 Woodlaw

Sometime in November 1985 Charlie sat at this table at 309 Woodlaw. At least that's what I think it says on the back of the photo. The handwriting is difficult to read. I can tell you that it was in Texas. The actual town is illegible.

Charlie TAKING A STAND

Remember the Alamo. Charlie did on March 26, 1983. It seems to have made him very happy.

Charlie AMIDST the TEXAS WILDFLOWERS

Charlie is late in showing up this week. He's been so busy admiring some Texas wildflowers (and he's never heard of bandwidth problems).

THE DARK SIDE of Charlie

Charlie is such an amiable fellow that it's hard to imagine him having a dark side. Sorry folks, but I think I've discovered something that will blow the Charlie story wide open.

Take a look at Charlie standing outside The Grotto & Quarterdeck in San Marcos in 1984. Happy, affable, good looking Charlie. Now, take a look at his shadow and tell me it doesn't look like the Terminator. Charlie and his shadow, a duo to be reckoned with.
